Microdermabrasion in Columbus, OH: What to Expect Before, During, and After

If your skin looks dull, feels rough, or has marks that will not shift with home care, microdermabrasion is often where I start the conversation. It is not a peel, and it is not a deep treatment. It is a steady, gentle polish, done properly, repeated on a plan, that leaves skin smoother and brighter over time.

Here is exactly what it is, what it costs here, why I recommend it as a series, and what the days after look like.

What microdermabrasion actually is

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive exfoliation treatment. I use a diamond tip device to gently remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. Underneath that dull layer is smoother, more radiant skin, and that is the change you see straight away: a cleaner surface that reflects light better and feels softer to the touch.

It is particularly effective for reducing the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and uneven texture. It does not work by forcing a dramatic peel or by stripping the skin. It works by clearing the surface, session by session, so your skin can look its best.

Who it suits best

This treatment is ideal for clients with oily, dull, or textured skin. If your skin feels rough, looks flat, or holds on to old marks, you are the kind of client I think of first for microdermabrasion. If your main concern is breakouts and oil control, or uneven tone, we will talk at your consultation about whether microdermabrasion, a chemical peel, or a customized facial is the better first step. That is what the consultation is for: your skin decides, not a menu.

What the appointment looks like

Every service at Elite Peels starts with a consultation. For microdermabrasion, we discuss your skincare goals and determine how many sessions will be needed for the results you want. That plan matters more than any single session, because this treatment is designed to build.

Then I work the diamond tip device across the skin, section by section, clearing dead cells from the surface. The appointment is focused and straightforward, and you leave knowing how many sessions we have planned and when the next one should be.

What it costs

A microdermabrasion facial at Elite Peels is $135. That is the treatment price, and the consultation where we set your session plan is part of how we start.

Why a series, not a one off

This treatment is recommended as part of a series for long-lasting results. Typically, 3 to 6 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart are recommended. The spacing matters: about 4 weeks gives your skin time between sessions, and each session builds on the last. One session will leave your skin smoother. A series is what changes texture, softens the look of fine lines and old marks, and holds the result.

At your consultation, I will tell you honestly how many sessions your skin is likely to need. I will not sell you more than your skin needs, and if a different treatment would serve you better first, I will say so.

Aftercare that actually matters

Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen post-treatment. That is the aftercare rule on this treatment, and it is not a small one. Freshly exfoliated skin is more open to the sun, and sun exposure after treatment can undo the even, bright result you just paid for. Sunscreen, every day, without exception, and shade and a hat when you are outside.

If you are unsure about a product after your appointment, ask me before you use it. That is what the consultation and the follow-up are for.

Microdermabrasion, peel, or dermaplaning?

People ask me this a lot, so here is the short version. Microdermabrasion ($135) polishes texture gently with a diamond tip and works best as a series. A chemical peel ($140) works on tone, breakouts, and texture by loosening the surface layer. Dermaplaning ($130) removes peach fuzz and surface dead skin. If you are new here and not sure where to start, start with the Customized Facial (from $125). We will look at your skin together and build from there.

Questions I hear every week

How many sessions will I need? Typically 3 to 6, spaced about 4 weeks apart, and we set your exact number at your consultation, based on your skin and your goals.

When will I see results? Your skin looks smoother and brighter after a session, and texture keeps improving across the series. This is a process that builds, not an overnight change.

What should I avoid after? Sun exposure, first and foremost, and use sunscreen post-treatment. If a product is in doubt, ask me before you use it.

Can I combine it with other treatments? Sometimes, and sometimes a different treatment first serves you better. That call is made at your consultation, skin by skin, not by a package.
